Click on the power cog at the top-right of your screen, then select 'About This Computer' from the drop-down menu':
Check to see if your system has 'Graphics Unknown' like in the image below:
If your system displays this the following step may help you fix it.
Install a package called mesa-utils to add OpenGL support to your system by running this command in the terminal(Ctrl+Alt+t):
sudo apt-get install mesa-utils
Once installed check again to see if your system has now detected your graphics as it has done below:
Fix 'Graphics Unknown' in Ubuntu 12.10
If your new installation of Ubuntu 12.10 is not detecting your graphics and displaying 'Graphics Unknown' the following may help.
